Marianne (1961) studied from 1986 to 1991 at the art academies of Arnhem and Tilburg. After her graduation she worked for 3 years as a pattern designer in New York. In 1994 she started her own design studio. She collects discarded utensils from different cultures and domestic spheres and processes them into 'decadent' illustrative objects using various techniques. The original function of each object expires and takes on a new role in the assembled object.
The interaction between apparently autonomous forms and designs is central to all her work. Marianne's work is about merging stories across generations and cultures, with which reality is recreated and in which everything is equally present. In addition to objects, she also makes jewellery, dishes, collages and designs.
Marianne works commissioned by both companies and individuals. More and more often she (sometimes together with other artists) is the driving force behind projects in which the public, employees of a company or the local community participate in the production of a work of art.
